IDC Technologies hosted the Boilers & Pumps Conference at the Rydges Hotel in North Sydney on the 24th & 25th November 2015. The conference offered delegates the opportunity to gain access to the most up-to-date information on the design, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and management of two key interconnected and often challenging components – boilers and pumps.
Day one of the conference opened with Ray Beebe from MCM Consultants presenting a one-hour keynote presentation entitled Condition Monitoring of Boilers and Heat Exchangers. This presentation covered the use of performance monitoring to detect and monitor boiler fouling, as well as techniques applicable to boilers such as visual inspection, non-destructive testing, acoustic leak detection, measurement of dimensions and air in-leakage tests. Ray received outstanding feedback from the delegates who had plenty of questions which were answered in a clear and practical manner.
Later in the afternoon, Selwyn Braver from Martec Asset Solutions received outstanding feedback for his presentation on day one entitled Online Acoustic Monitoring of Power Boilers. The presentation covered case studies from several different events throughout history and described the ways a plant can benefit from a comprehensive acoustic monitoring program.
The delegates adjourned for the day with speakers, sponsors and delegates discussing industry related news and socialising over a drink at the Boilers & Pumps Conference Networking Session.
Day two of the event opened with a keynote address from Selwyn Braver entitled Recent Developments in Pulse Reflectometry for Tube Inspection. The developments were discussed in depth with case studies that demonstrated the performance of this technique. Selwyn managed to tie with himself to get voted most valuable presentation at the conference for both of his presentations.
The response from delegates has been overwhelming! IDC Technologies was privileged to have a great selection of speakers and delegates attend this event which provided an opportunity for attendees to discuss important issues affecting the boilers and pumps industry in Australia. The mix of professional expertise and industry knowledge at the conference created an interactive and engaging conference.
IDC would also like to give a special thank you to the sponsors of the event: HMA Group, WNIPT Magazine, and Pump Industry Magazine.
