IDC Technologies’ High Voltage Conference was held at the Mercure Hotel in Perth on the 7th & 8th October 2015. Two pre-conference workshops were also held on the 6th October by the keynote speakers Barrie Moor (Power System Protection Training) and Karl Haubner (Doble Engineering Company).
Other speakers included at the conference came from a range of highly regarded organisations in the electrical industry such as ABB, Western Power and Global Testing Services to name a few.
Day one of the conference opened with Barrie Moor presenting a one hour keynote address entitled The Conflicting Requirements of Dependability and Security. This presentation stood out highly among the audience, with Barrie’s expertise in power system protection drawing the attention and many questions from audience members.
The day proceeded with 7 additional speakers discussing an array of topics from asset management to dielectric testing for high voltage motors and generators in the field. All of the presentations were praised by delegates in the feedback received.
The delegates adjourned for the day with speakers, sponsors and delegates discussing industry related news and socialising over a drink at the High Voltage Conference Networking Session.
Karl Haubner opened day two of the conference with his keynote topic entitled Review of Diagnostic Techniques for Assessing the Condition of Power Transformers. This presentation gave an overview of the most important on and off-line tools used to assess the mechanical and dielectric integrity of power transformers using electrical test equipment.
Karl Haubner was voted the most valuable presenter at the event with both of his topics creating a queue of questions lined up awaiting answers. The other two most valued speakers were keynote speaker Barrie Moor with both of his presentations, and Antony Giacomin from TJ|H2b presenting a topic entitled High Voltage Equipment: Keeping it Safe and Operational via Insulating Fluid Testing.
The response from delegates has been overwhelming! IDC Technologies was privileged to have a great selection of speakers and delegates attend this event which provided an opportunity for attendees to discuss important issues affecting the high voltage industry in Australia. The mix of professional expertise and industry knowledge at the conference created an interactive and engaging conference.
IDC would also like to give a special thank you to the sponsors of the event: Global Testing Services. The media sponsors: Transmission & Distribution and Utility Magazine and finally the destination sponsors: Perth Convention Bureau and Tourism WA.
