Low Voltage Design & Maintenance Conference – 21 & 22 July 2015 – Brisbane, Australia

IDC Technologies recently hosted the Low Voltage Design & Maintenance Conference. The conference was held at the Adina Apartment Hotel in Brisbane on the 21st and 22nd of July 2015.

The conference featured keynote speakers Chris Halliday from PowerLogic, Gary Busbridge from Clipsal by Schneider, and Roger Royal from Snowy Technical Services. Other speakers included at the conference came from a range of industry renown organisations such as MPower, Ecoult, Logicamms, Schneider Electric, Power Electronics Australia, and Water Services Engineering.

Day one of the conference opened with a 4 hour morning workshop from Chris Halliday (PowerLogic) which consisted of two presentations entitled Testing and Verification Requirements of the AS/NZS3000 Standard and Considering Voltage Drop in Low Voltage Design. The workshop covered a refresher on commonly forgotten basics in Low Voltage Design & Maintenance that is crucial to understand when working within the industry. Both presentations gained a lot of interest from the delegates who asked many questions during and after the workshop in order to fully comprehend the key points discussed.

Gary Busbridge (Clipsal by Schneider Electric) was the second speaker to present, utilising a 45-minute slot with Future Proofing the Wiring Rules. Gary is currently a Standardisation Manager and a Chairman of the EL001 Wiring Rules Standards Committee, so he was highly praised by the delegates for his knowledge regarding industry standards and future changes.

The delegates adjourned for the day with speakers, sponsors and delegates having a drink or two at the Low Voltage Design & Maintenance Conference Networking Session.

Roger Royal (Snowy Technical Services) commenced the second day of the conference with a 4 hour morning workshop entitled Low Voltage Earthing Design and the AS/NZS 3000.  IDC Technologies would like to make special mention of Roger Royal as he was rated the most valuable among all speakers.

Other highly commended speakers IDC Technologies would like to thank are; Nick Hughes (Power Electronics Australia), Gary Busbridge, Chris Leahy (MPower), and Chris Halliday.

The response from delegates has been overwhelming! IDC Technologies was privileged to have a great selection of speakers and delegates attend this event which provided an opportunity for attendees to discuss important issues affecting the low voltage industry in Australia. The mix of professional expertise and industry knowledge at the conference created an interactive and engaging conference.

IDC would also like to give a special thank you to the sponsors of the event: Industrial Electrix Magazine, and PowerLogic.
