Keynote speaker Sean Page from ACOR MCE Consultants, a local dangerous goods consultant based in Fremantle, opened the event with a fantastic keynote address relating to the topic Dangerous Goods Management in the Mining Industry. The rest of the morning featured papers from ERM Australia, Environmental Risk Solutions and Matrix Composites & Engineering. In the afternoon we had the pleasure of introducing Nick Nicolai from DG Air in Adelaide to present a half day technical workshop on Dangerous Goods and Mining which included an in depth look at Australian Dangerous Goods classifications from Class 1 through 9 which incorporated some interesting examples of local and international dangerous goods incidents.

The rest of the day was made up of presentations from GHD, Proteus Group, ACOR MCE Consultants, Radiation Professionals, IMCD Australia and Hydrocarbon Remedial Services/Race Response. Special mention goes to Philip Hine from the Department of Mining and Petroleum who presented a paper on What’s New and What’s Coming in Dangerous Goods Regulation which was very well received and discussed all the recent reforms and changes to dangerous goods regulations and policy in Australia and WA.
